FEBRUARY

Bryton Miller
Bryton Miller is the student of the month for February 2014 for the Industrial Technology department.  Bryton is currently enrolled in Basic Auto, Independent Study Woodworking, Computer Aided Drafting and Design, and Independent Study Fabrication. Bryton is also a Teaching Assistant for Mr. Hedquist during his third period of the day and has helped many of the other teachers around the building with projects and helped the 8th grade students with their CO2 cars and bridge building projects.
His projects at school include building himself a dresser, helping build another high mileage car, and building character boxes for the drama department.  Bryton is an independent thinker who does a wonderful job in all of his Industrial Technology classes.  His farm background helps him with problem solving and critical thinking skills that are used every day in the Industrial Technology area.
Bryton is a senior at Wabasha-Kellogg High School.  He is a captain on the wrestling team and has wrestled most of the season at 160 pounds.  He is the son of Kay and Tom Miller.  His future plans are to join his parents on the family farm.

Madyson Main
Madyson Main is the Family and Consumer Sciences Student of the Month.  Madyson is a Senior this year, and is the daughter of Sarah Hager and Roger Main. She has a sister Ellen, in 7th grade here at W-K. I first met Madyson as a 7th grader in my Family and Consumer Sciences exploratory course.  Over the years she has been a student of mine in a number of different classes including Career Horizons, Basic Foods, World Foods, Child Development and Senior Issues.
Madyson was on the Varsity Dance Team for 5 years, and was Manager of the Football team for 3 years. She started playing Varsity Softball in her sophomore year.  Some additional accomplishments include Most Motivated and Dedicated Dancer, Dancer of the Week, The Silver Bat and Academic All-Conference.  She has earned 3 Academic Letters and is a two year member of the National Honor Society.  Madyson has taken and passed Advanced Placement Psychology and is currently taking two College in the Schools courses—Math Modeling and Spanish.  Madyson also spends time tutoring both peers and underclassmen at W-K. She is the Vice President of the Band, and sings in the school’s choir. She has been honored with the opportunity to sing at both the Three Rivers Honor Choir and the Dorian Honor Choir. She loves performing and has played two lead characters and two supporting roles in W-K Theatre productions.  She is involved in the fall play, one-act play, and the spring musical. She enjoys her after school job this semester working at the Kids Club House.
Madyson plans to attend the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point where she plans to major in Speech Language Pathology.  One day she hopes to attain her Master’s degree and work in a clinical setting with a rehabilitation team helping stroke patients to re-gain their speech.  Her current goal is to become tri-lingual; she is a third year Spanish student, and is also working on her Sign Language skills.
Congratulations to Madyson!  As an Honor student who has been actively involved in athletics, community and school activities, you are so deserving of this honor!
