Teacher of the Year!

Congratulations Michael Kropp!

Everyday I walk my daughter down to her locker in the first grade wing of Wabasha-Kellogg Schools. I tell her to have a good day, kiss her on the forehead, and remind her to try to learn three things today. As I think about that routine, I am reminded to my first week of teaching at W-K ten years ago. I started my classes with the intent of wowing my students. After a particularly "wowful" lesson, I asked some students what they thought. Their response grounded me. "That was pretty good, but we did something like that in Mr. Stewart's class." Note to self, pay attention to the happenings in the 5th grade. On my second attempt, same reaction except this time it was Mr. Medina's English class that had thwarted my attempts to wow the audience. It was at that point that I realized that I was going to have to work harder to keep up with the amazing teaching staff that was already working at W-K schools. And so, everyday I come to school I try to take my own advice and learn three things from my colleagues. Thank you W-K staff and students for helping me to be picked as one of Wabasha-Kellogg's Teacher of the Year. smiley
