Summer 2020 Food Resources

June 8, 2020

Dear Wabasha-Kellogg Families,

Three Food Resource Options Covered in this Post:
1) P-EBT
2) Drive Through Food Shelf
3) Summer Eats MN

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. P-EBT: If your family qualified for free or reduced meals during the 2019-2020 school year, there is money available to you through a one-time Department of Human Services program created in response to the COVID-19 crisis.  The program is called P-EBT (Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer).  Families can receive up to $325/child to be used for groceries, so this is a significant amount of money.

Here is a link to read about the program, and to apply for the funds.

https://mn.p-ebt.org

Some general information about this program is as follows:

*Funds are only available to families with children ages 5-18 who qualified for free or reduced meals during the 2019-2020 school year.

*Applications for these funds can only be submitted online at the website listed above.

*You can apply between June 8 (starting at noon) and June 30.  There will likely be a large number of people on the website the first week, so be patient!

*If you already receive SNAP or MFIP, you do NOT need to apply.  The funds should have appeared directly on your EBT card on May 30.

*After you apply and are approved, an EBT card will be mailed to you.  You can use this card just like a debit card.

If you have any questions, you should contact one of these two hotline phone numbers:

1-800-657-3698 or 1-651-431-4050.

We hope that many of our qualifying Wabasha-Kellogg families will be able to enjoy this benefit.

Two other summer food resources we want to bring to your attention are listed below:

2. June 13: One-time drive through food pickup being held here in Wabasha. There is no cost, and no need to sign up ahead of time. See the attached flyer.
