Course Descriptions

Math 7:
The pre-transition math curriculum used in Math 7 provides an in-depth approach to the arithmetic of rational numbers.  Students will work with basic ideas of algebra, geometry, probability, and statistics.  Study Island and IXL web sites will be used as a supplement to better prepare students for the 4 strands of the MCA test and the 7th grade standards.  An emphasis on problem solving will be supplemented by the site aplusclick.

Beginning Algebra 8:
The transition math curriculum used in Beginning Algebra 8 has been designed to provide a smooth path from arithmetic to algebra and to geometry.  Real world application helps this process along.  Study Island and IXL will be used as a supplement to better prepare students for the 4 strands of the MCA test and 8th grade standards.  During the 2014-2015 school year all 7th graders will be in this class in order to be better prepared for Intermediate Algebra as 8th graders.

Intermediate Algebra 8:
Intermediate Algebra 8 is the first step in the higher math sequence.  The content and questions of this book integrate geometry, probability, and statistics together with algebra.  Pure and applied mathematics are also integrated throughout this curriculum.  Study Island and IXL web sites will be used as a supplement to better prepare students for the strands of the MCA test and 8th grade standards.
