SPECIAL EDUCATION DISABILTY AREAS



Wabasha-Kellogg public Schools serves students with special needs through a variety of Special Education programs.  Students from birth to age 21 are being served by licensed, specialized teachers.

Specific Learning Disabilty (SLD):
A student with a learning disabilty demonstrates a significant descrepancy between their intellectual ability and achievement in oral expression, listening comprehension, mathematical calculation, math reasoning, basic reading skills, reading comprehension, and/or written expression because of difficulties with psychological processing.

Developmental Cognitive Disability (DCD):
DCD means a condition resulting in significantly below average intellectual functioning and concurrent weaknesses in adaptive or functional behavior that affects educational performance.

Emotional/Behavioral Disorder (EBD):
EBD means that an established pattern of emotional or behavioral responses that adversely affect educational or developmental performance.
